WorkKeys for Seniors

Seniors who are wanting to take the WorkKeys test to try to qualify for the state scholarship program will be able to take the test on Friday Jan. 27th. Wondering if your senior should take this test? Seniors should take the WorkKeys if they are on track with the classes needed to meet scholarship qualifying criteria but have not yet achieved a 24 or higher on the ACT. A few things to note about scholarship criteria:

1.) Students must have a "C" or higher (83% or higher)in all classes required by the state to graduate
2.) Students must have a cumulative GPA of a "B" or higher (3.0 = 88% or higher) at the end of Sr. year
3.) Students must have taken the required courses to meet the requirements of each scholarship--I have visited with all students at least once this year about their status on this. If they don't know, they can stop in again on Monday and I will let them know if it would be beneficial for them to take the WorkKeys or not.

Please contact me with any questions you may have. Remember, this is a $6000 scholarship...if your senior is close, especially if they only need the test scores to qualify, encourage them to take the WorkKeys. The cost to take the 3 required tests is $15.00 ($5 each).

Online practice tests can be found and taken at http://www.act.org/workkeys/practice for $5.00 each.

Attention: Sophomores!!!

North Dakota offers 2 exceptional leadership seminars for students who are entering their junior year of high school.

Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar & North Dakota Leadership Seminar both offer students a fun, educational, and character building experience. All sophomore students are encouraged to apply and then are selected as representatives by a LMHS committee who reviews applicant essays unanimously.

During your seminar experience, you will discover and sharpen your leadership skills; you will come face-to-face with current leaders in such fields as government, media, business and education; and, you will be taught how to think, not what to think, empowering you to value your own opinions and ideas, and to find the courage to express those opinions among your peers. Then, you are challenged you to take your experience back to your home, school and community and make a difference for others.

Attending one of these leadership programs is a great chance for you to stand out and be outstanding; to show others who you are and what you can do. It’s an open door to lifelong leadership and service opportunities.

Check out the following links for more information and if you are interested in applying please see Ms. Hendrickson for application details.
